On June 25, an Anti-Corruption Forum was held in Bishkek under the theme “Effective Cooperation Between State Agencies and Civil Society in Preventing Corruption.”
The forum brought together representatives from government institutions, local authorities, civil society organizations, international bodies, and the academic community. Among the participants was Nurzhamal Mapaeva, Vice-Rector for Community Work and Youth Policy at Osh State University. She shared updates on the university’s efforts to combat corruption through the UNDP-supported “Clean Education – Clean Society” initiative.
As part of the project, 28 members of the Student Council and the University Ombudsman’s Office received training. A 16-day anti-corruption campaign was carried out, including the distribution of informational materials and the organization of student surveys on corruption issues. Additionally, the university hosted debate tournaments and round table discussions in cooperation with other southern universities and the project team.
The forum addressed strategies for strengthening collaboration between the government and civil society, improving transparency, and promoting practical measures to prevent corruption at the local level.
The event was organized by the Central Asian Institute for the Study of Corruption and Money Laundering, in partnership with the Presidential Academy of Public Administration and supported by the United Nations Development Program.
