An international congress titled “Central Asia: A Common Spiritual and Educational Heritage – A Common Future” is currently underway in Tashkent, bringing together scholars, cultural leaders, and officials from across the region. Osh State University is represented at the event by Zholdoshbek Botonoev, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies.
On November 14, Botonoev is scheduled to deliver two presentations:
“Figures of the Fergana Valley Educated in the 19th Century and Their Activities,” and
“Victims of Repression in Kyrgyzstan: The Publishing Movement, the Policy of Dispossession, and Political Repression (1920s–1930s).”
The congress has gathered ministers of culture, religious scholars, presidents of national academies of sciences, university leaders, and directors of state cultural institutions, along with historians, writers, artists, and youth representatives from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan.
The event will conclude on November 15 with the participation of the presidents of these countries, highlighting the importance of shared spiritual and educational values in the region’s future development.
