Osh State University presented the results of a one-year scientific project aimed at conserving mountain ecosystems. The report was delivered at a reporting event held on December 16–18 at Ishenaly Arabayev Bishkek State University.

The event was organized within the framework of scientific projects funded by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation. The results of research on the restoration of landslide-prone areas, carried out by the Consulting Center for Mountain Ecosystem Conservation and “Green” Innovations of Osh State University, were presented.

The report discussed problems in landslide areas, the practical work carried out, and the results achieved. In particular, it was noted that reforestation, fencing of the territory, and continuous monitoring are being conducted at the educational and production training site of Osh State University in Kurbu-Tash. Research results showed that agroforestry reclamation methods yield positive results in combating land and pasture degradation, which is widespread in the southern regions. It was emphasized that the applied biorecultivation methods are environmentally effective.

The Center’s Director, Abdyzhapar Akkulov, stated that landslides and land degradation represent a serious challenge for the country today, noting that the ongoing work is aimed at preserving mountain areas and proposing sustainable solutions for local communities.

It should be noted that within the framework of the scientific project “Restoration of Degraded Lands After Landslides: Implementation of Bioremediation Measures to Preserve Mountain Ecosystems under Climate Change Conditions,” reports were presented at international scientific and practical conferences, and four articles were published in RSCI and other scientific journals. In addition, one scientific article has been accepted for publication in the international Scopus database.
