The 70th anniversary of Academician Abdildajan Akmataliev was celebrated

At Osh State University, an international scientific-practical conference titled “Literature Across the World” was held, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Chyngyz Aitmatov and the 70th anniversary of Academician Abdildajan Akmataliev.

The event was attended by the Vice Mayor of Osh city Masuda Aidarbekova, Rector of OshSU Kudayberdi Kozhobekov, representatives of the Ch. Aitmatov Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences, public and political figures, scholars from Uzbekistan, cultural representatives, university lecturers, students, and the academician’s family.

During the anniversary event, a documentary film titled “A. Akmataliev – Aitmatov Scholar” dedicated to his life and scientific activity was screened. A book exhibition and a photo exposition reflecting his academic path were also organized, and stage performances were presented in front of the university.

At the plenary session, reports were presented on Kyrgyz literature, Aitmatov studies, and the development of national science. Participants discussed the academician’s role in organizing science, his works on ancient Turkic literature, new directions in studying national literature in the post-Soviet period, symbolic images in Chyngyz Aitmatov’s works, as well as his contribution to linguistics and literary studies.

Speakers emphasized Akmataliev’s contribution to the development of Kyrgyz literature, Aitmatov studies, and the training of young scholars. The second part of the conference included sectional work on the role of literary studies in the intercultural space and current issues of modern linguistics.

For information: Abdildajan Akmataliev was born in 1956 in Naryn city. He is a Doctor of Philology, Professor, Academician, recipient of the “Dank” medal and the III degree “Manas” Order. He has trained 101 candidates and doctors of sciences. He is the author of 1001 articles, 74 books, and seven poetry collections.
