Peking Ducks Raised at the Mountain EcoConsulting Center for Sale

The Mountain EcoConsulting Center of Osh State University is conducting an experiment on raising Peking ducks in the Kurbu-Tash area. Currently, around 1,000 four-month-old ducks are being raised together with local residents, and their sale has begun.

Live ducks are sold for egg production at 700 soms each. Ducks intended for meat are slaughtered, cleaned and sold for 600 soms each.

The income from the project will first be used to cover the costs of running the farm. Part of the funds will be allocated to continue the work next year, while the remainder will be distributed between the farm employees and OshSU.

According to the project implementers, duck farming is one of the relatively accessible and profitable types of farming under local conditions. In the future, producing and selling duck meat is expected to provide an additional source of income for local residents.

The main goal of the initiative is to promote alternative forms of farming that help communities adapt to climate change and create new sources of income in rural areas. The Mountain EcoConsulting Center plans to continue this work in the coming years and share alternative farming practices with local residents.

It should be noted that these activities are being carried out as part of the research project “Restoring Lands Degraded by Landslides: Implementing Forest Reclamation and Bioremediation to Conserve Mountain Ecosystems under Climate Change.”
