The Results of Scientific Projects Were Discussed in Issyk-Kul

A scientific and practical seminar dedicated to food security and the conservation of mountain ecosystems was held in Cholpon-Ata on August 13–15.

The seminar, titled “Challenges of Food Security and Mountain Ecosystem Conservation in Kyrgyzstan under Climate Change,” presented the results of research conducted במסגרת internal grant projects of Osh State University (OshSU).

The event was attended by Associate Professor Nurzhamal Kurbanbaeva, Head of the Science and Innovation Department of OshSU; Erlan Atabaev, Head of the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in Issyk-Kul Region; Zhaparbek Ormonov, Head of the Issyk-Kul District State Administration; heads and representatives of local rural administrations, specialists, university representatives and private entrepreneurs.

The seminar was organized as part of research projects supported by the OshSU internal grant program and the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation. Participants discussed research results related to food security, reducing the impact of climate change on mountain ecosystems, restoration of degraded land, forest reclamation and bioremediation.

The seminar also provided a platform for discussing the practical application of research findings, strengthening cooperation between science and industry, and addressing environmental and food security challenges at the local level.

Projects implemented at Osh State University:

“Food Security” Project. Head: Associate Professor Elmurat Obdunov. Researchers: Associate Professors Zuvaida Sherbaeva and Asadullo Kuychiev, and lecturers Zhumashbek Toktosunov and Roza Shaimkulova.
“Innovative Nursery” Project. Head: Associate Professor Abdizhapаr Akkulov. The project also involves Talantbek Borkoshov, Director of the Osh Forestry Enterprise.
“Introduction of Paulownia Varieties into the OshSU Botanical Garden and Study of Their Biological, Environmental and Economic Characteristics.” Head: Associate Professor Venera Ermatova.
“Restoration of Lands Degraded by Landslides: Forest Reclamation and Bioremediation for the Conservation of Mountain Ecosystems under Climate Change.” Head: Associate Professor Abdizhapаr Akkulov. The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation.
