The Lomonosov Center at Osh State University held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 29, 2023. A Russian delegation led by K.I. Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, attended the ceremony. Representatives of the university community, led by the Kyrgyz Republic’s Minister of Education and Science K.K. Imanaliev, participated from the Kyrgyz side. Academician V.A. Sadovnichiy, rector of Moscow State University; K.I. Mogilevsky, deputy minister of education and science of the Russian Federation; K.K. Imanaliev, minister of education and science of the Kyrgyz Republic; and Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, rector of Osh State University all gave welcoming speeches.

An agreement between Osh State University and Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov was signed on March 3, 2023 in Moscow during the course of the XV Congress of the Eurasian Association of Universities led to the opening of the Lomonosov Center. The ceremony’s attendees and guests were given a tour of the center’s contemporary facilities, student exhibits featuring their work in the field of new technologies, and student start-up initiatives from the university’s youth business park. Along with this, the decision to convene the Third Forum of Rectors of the Universities of the two countries in Kyrgyzstan was discussed by the leaders and representatives of two parties.

The Lomonosov Center will provide collaborative double-degree programs in three disciplines: tourism (bachelor’s degree), international relations, applied mathematics and computer science (master’s degree). Students will obtain diplomas from both universities after spending the first two years of their studies at Osh State University and the following third and fourth years at Moscow State University in Moscow. Cooperation only just got started with this interaction. In actuality, this facility will function as a Moscow State University branch in Kyrgyzstan, and its operations will grow and flourish. It should be noted that Osh State University is currently conducting joint activities with more than 70 Russian Federation universities in a variety of pertinent areas, including planning academic mobility for students and specialists, advanced training, working visits, faculty internships, development of joint educational programs for double diplomas, educational and scientific projects, holding international scientific and practical events (forums, conferences, etc.), and more.

The top universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, and Kemerovo, as well as a number of other universities from Russian Federation, are included in the list of partner universities. Further collaboration will receive some encouragement from the Lomonosov Center. The sustainable growth of interuniversity partnerships will be facilitated by cooperative educational initiatives, academic mobility, the sharing of cutting-edge educational technologies, and best practices.
