In May 2024, the first liver transplant surgery is planned to take place at the Osh State University Medical Clinic. The operation will be conducted in collaboration with the Inönü University Turgut Özal Clinic.
These details were disclosed during the visit to Osh State University by a Turkish delegation led by the Inönü University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kızılay.
During the meeting, information was provided on how liver, kidney, and skull transplant surgeries will be performed at the Osh State University Medical Clinic.
Doctors from the Inönü University Turgut Özal Clinic will participate in surgeries at the Osh State University Medical Clinic for a year and share their experiences.
University Rector Ahmet Kızılay stated their interest in close collaboration in other areas besides medicine, such as academic mobility and experience sharing for students and faculty in non-medical fields.
Members of the delegation visited the medical clinic's biochemistry, clinical, and cytology laboratories, digital radiography and ultrasonography, intensive care, and operating rooms, as well as cardiovascular surgery departments. They also paid a visit to the educational and research laboratories of the medical faculties.
Previously, at the Inönü University Turgut Özal Clinic, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Janek Belekov, 10 specialists conducted research in the field of liver transplantation. They shared their experiences with doctors under the guidance of the world-renowned liver transplant surgeon Prof. Dr. Sezay Yılmaz and developed their knowledge for three months as part of a project conducted on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement between the two countries.
