A training session on “Colposcopy, Diagnostics, and Treatment of Diseases” took place in Osh from October 21-25. Led by Jean Kalibushi Biziman, a doctor from Germany and representative of “Doctors Without Borders,” as well as Isobella Asanova, Secretary of the Kyrgyzstan Association of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Neonatology, and Guldzhamal Subanova, Associate Professor at OshSU’s Faculty of International Medicine, the event included both lectures and practical exercises.
Subanova emphasized the urgency of addressing cervical cancer, which is spreading quickly among women, particularly those of childbearing age. The training aimed at preventing and diagnosing cervical cancer brought together 16 obstetricians-gynecologists from Jalal-Abad, Batken, and Osh for two days of lectures and three days of hands-on practice. The Ministry of Health and Doctors Without Borders jointly organized this event.
According to 2023 statistics, 498 cases of cervical cancer are recorded each year in Kyrgyzstan, with 286 fatalities, mainly affecting women between the ages of 15 and 44.
