On November 13, Osh State University hosted the forum “Journalism in the Era of Advanced Media Technologies” to mark the 100th anniversary of the Kyrgyz press. The event brought together prominent journalists from Osh, esteemed alumni of the Journalism Department, faculty, and students.
The forum began with an address from Nurzhamal Mapaeva, OshSU’s Vice-Rector for Public Work and Youth Policy, who highlighted the significance of the press’ centennial anniversary, the essential role of journalism, and the contributions of skilled professionals in society. Mapaeva also acknowledged the positive impact of OshSU graduates working across the country’s media landscape.
During the forum, guest speakers discussed the relevance of modern journalism, its evolving future, and the impact of technological advancements, offering students valuable insights and advice.
As part of the event, awards were presented to winners of an essay and video contest on the theme “Kyrgyz Press: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow,” organized for students by Department of Journalism.
