Osh State University is currently conducting a training program titled “Management and Development of Handicraft Business Based on Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Tourism Sector.” The sessions are taking place at the university’s Business Park.

Participants include artisans from the Osh region, instructors of handicrafts from various colleges and faculties, and entrepreneurial students of Osh State University. Throughout the training, they are learning the fundamental aspects of business and marketing within the handicraft industry. The program also focuses on practical skills such as calculating production costs and developing tailored marketing strategies for the handicraft and tourism sectors.

Startups will share their experiences and explore key topics, including how to bring handcrafted products to market, promote Kyrgyzstan through ethnic crafts, and attract tourists with local goods,” noted Erlan Kamalov, director of the Business Park. He added that such training sessions are held regularly in partnership with donor organizations.

The initiative, part of the “Creative Laboratory of Kyrgyz Crafts” project, runs from April 16 to April 17. It was organized by the CACSARC-kg public foundation and is supported by an international cooperation program between Kyrgyzstan and Korea. The project also receives backing from the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy and the National Commission of Kyrgyzstan for UNESCO.
