
On May 9, Osh is hosting a series of festive events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Approximately 3,000 faculty members and students from Osh State University are taking part in the celebrations, including the “Immortal Regiment” march and concert programs held in the city’s central square and Toktogul Satylganov recreation park.
The celebration also features a traditional soldiers' field kitchen in the park, along with various sports competitions.
According to official records, more than 360,000 people from Kyrgyzstan were mobilized during World War II (1941-1945), over 160,000 of whom perished. Additionally, 150,000 Kyrgyz citizens received military honors, including medals and orders.
