Today, October 3, Osh State University is hosting a forum entitled “Water Resources of Kyrgyzstan: Conservation and Effective Use of the Syr Darya, Kara Darya, and Naryn Rivers for Future Generations.”

The event covered topics such as the rational use and protection of water resources in relation to climate change, the impact of climate on runoff in the Syr Darya basin, and the contribution of young people to the development of sustainable water management.

The forum is attended by representatives of government agencies, the National Academy of Sciences, universities, international and local organizations, experts, and students.

The conference will also feature special sessions dedicated to youth and an award ceremony for the winners of student competitions.

"The project has been running since March. As part of the project, we conducted training sessions and seminars as experts from Osh State University. We organized a week-long summer camp in Sary-Chelek, as well as events on the banks of the Ak-Buura River in Osh. Today, the final forum of the joint project is taking place. The project partners are the German organization GIZ, the legal organization Green Alliance of Kyrgyzstan, Naryn State University, Jalal-Abad State University, and Osh State University," said Sharkan Tashbaltaeva, a lecturer in the Department of Agronomy and Applied Geodesy at the university.

The materials from the competitions held as part of the project were published in a brochure entitled “The World of Fairy Tales and Wonders.”

This forum was timed to coincide with International Syr Darya Day and was held as part of the GIZ regional program “Climate-Responsible Water Management” in Central Asia.
