Students mastered new skills in caring for the elderly
The Department of Social Work at the Institute of Economics, Business, and Management at Osh State University organized a week of events dedicated to October 1, International Day of Older Persons.
Students, their parents, and teachers took part in it. Information was presented on the prevention of chronic diseases in older people. Master classes on art therapy methods and physical exercises were organized.
For example, since Kyrgyzstan gained independence, insufficient attention has been paid to gerontology. Currently, the number of elderly people in the world is growing, and this phenomenon has become a global demographic problem. In this regard, social experts talk about the need to regulate gerontological policy in the country at the national level.
The main goal of the week is to demonstrate the importance of social work professionals' activities in relation to older people. To draw public attention to the problems and needs of older people, as well as to define the place and value of older people in society.
