On 9 October, the Osh State University Football Cup kicked off at the stadium in the village of Kyzyl-Meenet, Kara-Suu District.
The sporting event was opened by Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, who noted that an initiative is being implemented to involve the university's teaching staff in football and to create a fan club for the OshSU football club.
Twelve teams are participating in the tournament. Each team consists of seven teachers and four students, and up to 15 players can register. The games are played in two halves of 20 minutes each. The prize fund for the event is 40,000 soms. The winners and best players will be awarded a cup and prizes.
The tournament was organised by the university sports club and the football club. The football club allocated funds from its own budget.
The Osh State University football club is the first and only club created among universities and funded by the university. They are currently in 6th place in the top league with 36 points.
