Osh State University held a collaborative meeting on November 14 as part of the “Bright Kyrgyzstan” project, aimed at strengthening academic and professional cooperation with Korean partners.
During the meeting, participants discussed the development of the bachelor’s degree program in Nursing, current needs and strategic plans, and the introduction of professional nursing standards. They also explored opportunities for academic mobility, the establishment of a “2+2” dual degree program, and improving educational infrastructure.
The meeting brought together university administrators led by Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation, as well as Korean and local project specialists. The Korean delegation was headed by Professor Shin Hyunsuk of Kyung Hee University, Director of the Bright Kyrgyzstan project.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to expand cooperation, develop joint educational initiatives, and determine a timeline for implementing future steps.
“Osh State University joined the Korean ‘Bright Kyrgyzstan’ project in 2024,” noted Anara Mataipova, Head of the Department of Medical Educational Programs and International Projects at the Faculty of Medicine.
“As part of the project, we established a bachelor’s program in Nursing and Midwifery within the Faculty of Medicine. We are currently revising educational standards, curricula, core programs, and documentation. We obtained a license in July 2024, and admission to the program will begin in the 2026–2027 academic year.”
Osh State University continues to expand international partnerships and enhance the quality of medical education through collaborative projects.
