On November 28, Osh State University held a ceremony to award scholarships named after Honored Worker of Education of Kyrgyzstan, Doctor of Philology, and Professor Kanybek Isakov.
The event was attended by the university faculty, led by Rector Kudaiberdi Kojobekov, as well as Kanybek Isakov’s family, close associates, colleagues, and students.
Rector Kudaiberdi Kojobekov noted that Kanybek Isakov had been one of his mentors and emphasized that the valuable guidance and vision of such mentors continue to shape his work in education, research, and leadership. He congratulated the scholarship recipients and encouraged them to strive for success and become professionals contributing to the development of the Kyrgyz people.
Full-time students from the university’s institutes, faculties, and colleges participated in the competition. Their academic achievements, participation in international and national creative competitions, creative work, and involvement in social and cultural life were taken into account.
The application process was conducted in two stages: the first stage at the institute, faculty, and college levels, and the second stage by a university committee. Based on the results, the top ten students were awarded a one-time Kanybek Isakov Scholarship of 10,000 soms each. The recipients were:

The total scholarship fund of 100,000 soms was provided by Kanybek Isakov’s family. The initiative was supported by Osh State University to honor Professor Isakov’s contributions to education and to support the creativity and engagement of young people.
Kanybek Isakov was born on June 4, 1969, in the Nookat District of Osh Region. He graduated from Osh State University. From 2006 to 2011, he served as Rector of Osh State Pedagogical University, and from 2011 to 2019, he headed Osh State University. From 2019 to 2020, he served as Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. He passed away on November 12, 2020, leaving behind three daughters and a son.
