Osh State University hosted a dynamic forum titled “Youth on the Path to Sustainable Development of the Country”, in collaboration with the Osh city mayor’s office and the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic. This forum served as a platform for fostering dialogue and engagement among young people while addressing critical issues facing society.
The forum, which coincided with OshSU’s 85th anniversary celebrations, drew participation from a diverse array of guests, including government officials, representatives from various institutions, and students from universities across the region. The event aimed to harness the creativity and energy of youth towards sustainable development initiatives and community engagement.
Key figures in attendance included Sonunbek Djunusbayev, Vice-Mayor of Osh city, and Askar Shaikidinov, the head of the Department of Youth Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic. Their presence underscored the significance of empowering young people as catalysts for positive change.
The forum agenda encompassed a wide range of topics, from the role of volunteering in community development to the challenges posed by extremist ideologies and cybersecurity threats. Through presentations and interactive discussions, participants gained insights into these pressing issues and explored strategies for addressing them effectively.
A highlight of the event was an exhibition “OshSU through the Eyes of Artists”, showcasing the talent and creativity of students. Additionally, a parade featuring the achievements of OshSU’s youth highlighted their contributions to various fields, including academia, arts, and social activism.
In recognition of their active involvement and dedication, select students were honored with letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as honorary certificates from the youth committee of Osh city’s mayor’s office and Osh State University.
Nurzhamal Mapaeva, Vice-Rector for Student Community Affairs and Youth Policy at OshSU, emphasized the forum’s role in promoting unity, creativity, and civic engagement among young people. She highlighted the importance of addressing societal challenges and empowering youth to contribute meaningfully to the country’s development agenda.
