On December 2-3, Bishkek hosted the first-ever Republican Forum of Manas Scholars. The event brought together university professors, college educators, schoolteachers, scientists, and cultural figures from across Kyrgyzstan’s seven regions.
Associate Professor Gulzhan Koichumanova from the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication at Osh State University delivered a presentation titled “Possibilities of Digital Technologies in Popularizing the Epic of Manas.”
The forum welcomed notable participants, including Aziz Biymurza uulu, President of the National Academy of Manas, Vice President Nazira Aaly kyzy, Academician Abdyldajan Akmataliev, and Melis Murataliev, Chair of the National Commission on the State Language. These distinguished figures emphasized the importance of the Manas epic in national culture and education. Discussions explored innovative teaching methods for incorporating the epic into school and university curricula, as well as the role of digital technologies in promoting it. Participants were awarded membership and participation certificates.
The forum concluded with the adoption of a resolution to collaborate on studying and popularizing the Manas epic. “This forum provides valuable opportunities for researching the Manas epic in the modern era and passing its legacy to future generations,” noted Gulzhan Koichumanova.
Organized by the Manas National Academy, the event aimed to strengthen the epic’s role as a cornerstone of Kyrgyz spiritual and cultural heritage. It successfully united prominent scholars, educators, and public figures dedicated to the study and dissemination of this timeless work.
