On December 4, employees from the Main Directorate of Road Safety held an informative session for students at Osh State University, focusing on methods to prevent road accidents and their consequences.
During the event, experts presented videos of road accidents and engaged with students on topics such as laws governing drivers beyond basic traffic regulations and penalties for rule violations. They also discussed strategies to reduce accidents involving electric scooters and bicycles.
The meeting was part of a two-month initiative by the Ministry of Internal Affairs aimed at improving road safety.
According to the ministry’s Road Safety Department, over 6,000 road accidents have been reported nationwide since the start of the year, resulting in 640 fatalities and injuries to nearly 9,000 people.
To address these alarming statistics, regional branches of the department have launched various initiatives, including competitions for teenagers and community meetings. Approximately 700 preventive activities have also been conducted for pedestrians.
