Osh State University’s Tag Rugby Team Takes Silver at National Championship
On April 19, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Kyrgyz sports, the National Youth Tag Rugby Championship took place in Bishkek. Among the seven participating teams, Osh State University secured second place.
The university’s tag rugby team was established in 2022 and currently includes 30 players, primarily made up of students and faculty from the physical education department. The team is coached by Shumkarbek Oken uulu, a faculty member. The team has previously trained in both Great Britain and Uzbekistan.
Rugby-7, an Olympic discipline, has been officially organized in Kyrgyzstan since the formation of the national Rugby Federation in 2001.
