Central Asian Water Management Addressed at Seminar in Tashkent

Abdizhapar Akkulov, Director of the Consulting Center for the Conservation of Mountain Ecosystems and Green Innovations at Osh State University, along with Elmurat Obdunov, Associate Professor at the Department of Physical Geography, Geography of Kyrgyzstan, and the Concept of Natural Sciences, took part in an international scientific and practical seminar titled “Sustainable and Efficient Water Use in the Context of Small Rivers of Central Asia: Challenges, Solutions, Experience Exchange, and Prospects.”

The seminar was held in Tashkent on June 16-17 and was organized under the auspices of several projects, including the International Water Management Institute in Central Asia (IWMI-CA), Hudro4U, the Global Partnership for Sustainable Cooperation on Waters, WE-ACT, and ISTS.

Osh State University representatives delivered a presentation on “Challenges in Providing Clean Drinking Water to the Population Amid Administrative-Territorial Reforms in Osh” and shared proposals for advancing water diplomacy in Central Asia against the backdrop of climate change and evolving socio-economic conditions.

The event brought together prominent researchers and professionals in the water sector from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan.
