The newly passed Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Education” was signed by the president.

The document was adopted in order to reform the educational system, strengthen continuity in education, develop individuals that can meet contemporary challenges, and be competitive on the job market. It also aims to improve the quality of educational services offered to the public and increase access to them.

The new law establishes the institution of professional competency certification and validation, as well as the abilities of citizens gained through independent practice or non-formal education.

The document outlines the issues of granting higher education institutions and their activities a special status, regulating the operations of online educational organizations, and introducing a voucher system for paying for educational services provided by educational organizations.

According to the new law, license is not required for educational organizations that implement preschool and additional education programs, regardless of their ownership structure, with the exception of activities related to driving schools and additional education that pose a risk to people’s lives and health (the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a list of these activities).
