In a remarkable stride toward enhancing the financial independence of Kyrgyzstan's higher education institutions, the DEFA (Development of Financial Autonomy) project, operating under the Erasmus+ program, celebrates a year of active engagement. With a consortium comprising 12 local universities and the collaborative efforts of two international institutions from Germany and Italy, the project has taken significant strides in reshaping the financial landscape of Kyrgyzstan's educational sector.
The seminar titled “Development of Financial Autonomy of Universities in Kyrgyzstan,” held on December 6, stands as a testament to the project's commitment and progress. Representatives from institutions such as Otto von Guericke University in Germany, universities in Italy, and various universities in Kyrgyzstan convened to deliberate on pivotal strategies and future directions.
Nurlan Omurov, the national coordinator of the project and vice-rector for academic affairs at Osh State University, provided in-depth information about the year-long activities of the DEFA project.
The coordinators from partner universities engaged in discussions, outlining future trajectories. On the seminar's second day, the project partners will focus on crafting a strategic blueprint aimed at fostering financial autonomy for universities in Kyrgyzstan. The seminar will draw inspiration from Otto von Guericke University in Germany, specifically concerning the identification of mechanisms related to personnel selection.
