Delegation of the European Parliament visits Osh State University

Today, on December 20, a meeting was held at Osh State University with a delegation of the European Parliament led by the co-chairman of Kyrgyzstan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee MEP Thomas Zdechovsky.

The guests were greeted by university leaders led by Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov.

The meeting was attended by students who studied at European universities under the Erasmus + scholarship program, instructors who completed internships and exchanged experience at European universities. The participants discussed completed EU projects and projects that are currently under way. Along with this, there was a conversation about the development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the countries of the European Union, projects in the field of education and science, and scholarship programs.

Currently, Osh State University is successfully implementing such projects funded by the European Union as “Development of financial autonomy of universities in Kyrgyzstan / DEFA”, “Strengthening the field of environmental health education, research and innovation in Asia”, “Development of master’s programs in labor protection and the environment”, “Development of doctoral education and research potential in Kyrgyzstan”, “Creation of educational potential of nutrition, dietetics and research potential in Central Asia / BERNICA”.

After the meeting, the delegation of the European Parliament got acquainted with the center opened as part of the DigiKonush project “Building an open future for rural youth through digitalization” and visited the medical training laboratories on the Ak-Buura campus.

Co-chairman of Kyrgyzstan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Thomas Zdekhovsky noted that the main purpose of the working trip is to expand cooperation with the countries of Central Asia, including strengthening ties in the field of education and science. In addition, he emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is an important partner of the European Union and expressed a desire to further strengthen and deepen bilateral cooperation.
