Today, September 19, is the National Day of Mourning

The National Day of Mourning was declared on September 19 by an executive order issued by President Sadyr Japarov.

Due to the deaths of Kyrgyz citizens during the armed battle on the Kyrgyz-Tajik sector of the state boundary in the Batken region on September 14–17, the country is today in mourning.

The Kyrgyz Republic's national flag was lowered on the day of national mourning in all regions of the country as well as inside of foreign diplomatic and consular establishments. On the day of sorrow, entertainment activities and broadcasts have been canceled by cultural organizations, television networks, and radio stations.

The emphasis of the lectures at Osh State University was on loving the compatriots and the Motherland, on commemorating fallen soldiers and following their examples.
