85-year-old student excused from tuition payment
Mamat Kulmatov, an 85-year-old student at OshSU's medical faculty, can now study for free. Until now he paid for study 2500 soms in a month and rent an apartment. The university management provided Kulmatov with an equipped dorm.
“At the moment, I reside in a comfortable dorm. Such a condition was created by the university. I appreciate it. I was required to pay 45 thousand soms annually according to the contract. They claimed that I will now receive free education”-, said Mamat Kulmatov.
Previously, the information on Mamat Kulmatov has been published by the university's press center. Kulmatov stated during the interview that he enrolled in Aravan medical college at the age of 76 and graduated at the age of 79. He began his studies at OshSU in 1959, majoring in biochemistry, but due to life difficulties at that time, Kulmatov was unable to complete the study. Despite his family's lack of support, he made the decision to pursue an education.
