The Advisory Committee on the coordination of the implementation of the “Student Startup” pilot program has decided to provide financial support to eight projects, as reported by the Ministry of Education and Science.
A total of 158 applications were received for the “Student Startup” competition from students representing 21 universities and 3 colleges. The applications went through three stages of evaluation—selection by a working group, an independent expert group, and an engineering-expert group. In the final stage, students defended their startup projects in various fields such as information and digital technologies, medical technologies, biotechnologies, agricultural technologies, green economy, and the creative industry.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov emphasized the significant role of student startup projects in the country’s economic development. “For the projects recognized as winners, along with setting stringent requirements, we are ready to create favorable conditions. Because it is easy to allocate funds, but it is challenging to implement and withstand competition,” said the deputy head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
A total of 10 million soms from the republican budget is allocated for the development of student startup projects. Out of this amount, 3,160,744 soms will be allocated to the eight winning startup projects. Among the winners are students from Osh State University with the PARKING.G startup, a smart barrier (automation of car parking and payment systems). They will receive 989,687 soms for the implementation of their project.
The students from Osh State University are studying in the field of computer engineering at the Higher School of International Educational Programs. Previously, they underwent training in the business park of Osh State University and received a grant.
