Quality and Innovation Financing Project in Higher Education

Today, on January 15, discussions took place in the sessions of the Social Policy Committee, the Budget Economic and Fiscal Policy Committee, and the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security, and Migration. The focus of the discussions was the consideration of a project between the Kyrgyz Republic and International Development Association titled “Agreement on Financing Quality and Innovation in Higher Education,” with a total budget of 25 million dollars.

The Minister of Education and Science, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, outlined the project's objective, emphasizing its aim to enhance the quality of research and align the requirements of the labor market with higher education programs. The minister provided an overview of the four components of the agreement project:

  1. First Component: The enhancement of the quality and relevance of research, innovations, and educational programs in selected universities (19.7 million US dollars).
  2. Second Component: The development of the potential for research and innovation in universities (4 million US dollars).
  3. Third Component: The strengthening of the management of the higher education system to ensure quality (0.5 million US dollars).
  4. Fourth Component: The provision of support for project management, monitoring, and evaluation (0.8 million US dollars).
