Education Funding on the Rise

In the last three years, there has been a special focus on the education sector, resulting in an increase in allocated funds. In 2021, the funding for education and science amounted to 40.7 billion soms, or 5.6% of the GDP. In 2022, it increased to 63.2 billion soms, accounting for 6.9% of the GDP, and in 2023, it reached 75.8 billion soms, or 7% of the GDP. Out of the Ministry of Education and Science budget in 2023, 38.6 billion soms are directed towards schools, boarding schools, and kindergarten.

Here is the breakdown of expenditures for other areas:

  • Preschools: 7.8 billion soms
  • Institutions of primary vocational education: 2.2 billion soms
  • Institutions of secondary vocational education: 788.3 million soms
  • Higher education institutions: 12.9 billion soms
  • Scientific institutions: 220.4 million soms
  • Institutions of other sectors: 3.0 billion soms

These investments reflect a significant commitment to the development of various educational levels, from early childhood education to advanced scientific research, highlighting the government’s dedication to enhancing the overall education system.
