Implementation of Kyrgyz Language Proficiency Test Requirement for Higher Education Admission

Applicants seeking admission to higher educational institutions are now required to undergo a Kyrgyz language proficiency test, as announced by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science. This directive, issued on February 7, applies universally across all educational institutions.

The Kyrgyz language test serves to evaluate the applicant's command of the state language and does not impact the outcomes of other examinations necessary for university admission.

It’s important to note that failure to pass the state language test will result in the withholding of results for both the main and subject tests of the general republican testing process.

This development follows the enactment of the constitutional law “On the State Language” on July 17 of the preceding year, under the leadership of President Sadyr Japarov. This law mandates the use of the Kyrgyz language for official documents within state institutions and requires official public events to be conducted in the state language.
